Abinash Bhattachan
Abi is a broadly trained environmental scientist. Our research group studies aeolian processes, rural-urban sustainability and global environmental change. We combine environmental and social science approaches to work on actionable science and policy relevant research. My CV is available here and current publications are accessible through Google Scholar

Gayatri Paudel
Gayatri Paudel holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Forestry from Tribhuvan University (TU), Institute of Forestry, Nepal and currently pursuing her master’s degree in Geography and the Environment at Texas Tech University. She has a keen interest in environmental studies, particularly in the areas of GIS and Remote Sensing applications for environmental resources management. Gayatri is dedicated to advancing her knowledge and contributing to sustainable environmental practices.

Binisha Shrestha
I have a diverse interest in environmental management, disaster resilience, and the socio-economic impacts of climate change, including technical skills in GIS and remote sensing. My research focuses on the intersection of environmental science and human geography, emphasizing inclusive disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation. I explore how human societies interact with their environment, specifically through the lens of sustainable natural resource management, water-energy-food nexus, and geospatial technologies. My goal is to develop strategies that address vulnerabilities and enhance resilience in communities, with a particular emphasis on the inclusion of marginalized groups in disaster planning and decision-making processes.

Sarah Bass
I'm an undergraduate student at Texas Tech University majoring in Honors Science and Humanities, concentrating in environmental science and the humanities. I'm working in the Pulse lab through the Undergraduate Research Scholars program at the TTU Honors College. I've always had a passion for the environment and concern for climate change, and I hope to one day work in the National Parks Service or in an environmental lobbying firm. For now, I work as a tutor on campus!

Takada Mduluza
I am currently pursuing a PhD in Geosciences, and my research interests are on the effect of climate, environment and soil properties on the geography of infectious disease transmission, specifically looking at Valley fever. I hope to identify how various environmental systems interact with human susceptibility factors to affect disease incidence. My goal is to come up with research findings that could help health systems prepare for future disease outbreaks and also have an impact on environmental policy.

Riley Young
I am a graduate student at Texas Tech University pursuing a Master's degree in Geography and the Environment. I hold a Bachelor's degree in Geology from Texas Tech University. My current research focuses on the mobilization of rare earth elements in clay minerals after the Smoke House Creek wildfire in the Texas Panhandle, as well assessing surface erodibility in the affected areas.

Grace White
I am a junior at Texas Tech University, studying geosciences, with a focus in environmental and atmospheric sciences. I am working in the PULSE lab with the support of Dr. Abinash Bhattachan and the Texas Tech University Honors College. After completing my bachelor's, I plan to pursue a master's degree in Meteorology. My dream career is with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration!
